Meet the Commitee
CLUB CHAIRMAN: Paul Pitney
Paul has raced AMCA for almost 20 years, starting at just 14 years of age. Paul took over the role of chairman in 2001, replacing Kirk Owen, and has overseen the continued growth of the club, in many ways down to his hard work and dedication to the club. Paul still races regularly, racing in the 250cc Seniors.
DEPUTY CHAIRMAN: Winsor Jones
Winsor is best known as being the proprietor of Pete Jones Motorcycles in Shrewsbury, however he has also enjoyed a successful motorcycling career, competing in motocross, road racing and supermoto. Winsor returned to the club in 2004 overseeing the riding career of his son, Ryan.
SECRETARY: Jon Lakin
Jon has been a rider member of the club for over 20 years, therefore overseeing the great changes to the club. He competes mostly at local meetings, also in the 250cc Seniors. Jon was instrumental in drumming up support for the popular AMCA Veterans series.
TREASURER: Norbert Czora
Norbert is the only founder member still involved with the club. A former championship rider, Norbert returned to the club as a social member in 1999, after a 12 year break. He returned to the track in 2002, reaching a peak in 2005, where he had some impressive results in the 750cc Seniors and was a semi-finalist in the AMCA Clubman championship.
RIDERS REPS: Gavin Jones / Jonathan Beattie
Gavin Jones is the newest member of the committee replacing Russell Lewis as Riders Rep. Gavin joined the club in 2003, and has since been promoted to the Expert class. A regular at weekly club meetings, the club has opted to elect him as a commitee member for 2007. Representing the Inter Junior riders is Jonathan Beattie. A regular at both club and race meetings, Jonty has improved on the track during 2006, whilst proving himself as a caluable committee member.
PRESS OFFICER: Chris Czora
Chris switched to the AMCA from youth racing in 1999 and currently races in the 250cc Seniors. Has also previously raced at Expert level in Enduro events. Chris was elected Press Officer in 2001, and writes regular reports for both the local media and the Trials and Motocross News.
CHIEF MARSHAL: Derek Howells
Derek Howells joined the club as a social member in 2003, looking after the interests of his sons, David and Philip, who have both since rose to Expert level. Derek took an active interest in the club's running and joined James Evans as Chief Marshal in 2005. Derek is now full-time marshall, and regularly attends Group meetings for the club.
STEWARD: Ian Cullis
Well known for his local mobile mechanic business (as well as being a factory Suzuki motocross rider!) Ian Cullis competed from 1999 up until 2005, when he was awarded Best Senior by the club. Despite his current retirement, Ian still stewards at AMCA meetings. The whole Cullis family often gets involved at Shrewsbury meetings, with wife Carol and daughers Gemma and Tash regularly helping out as lapscorers
