3 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
Minutes of the last meeting dated 05 November 2007, having being previously circulated to all members were taken as having been read. After amendments the minutes were approved then signed and dated by the Chairman. 4 HIGHWAYS/FOOTPATHS The Vice Chairman informed the meeting that the Parish Council were now getting very concerned regarding the condition of the road near to New Hall Farm, Kenley and in the interests of safety we should again contact the Highways Department to ascertain when the road will be permanently repaired. Patching had recently been carried out but due to wet weather there was no improvement in the condition of the road. A letter had been received from Shropshire County Council’s Senior Traffic Engineer Jason Hughes dated 13 December 2007 and which also enclosed a letter from Mr Towers of The Grange regarding “Coach Parking – passing place adjacent to The Grange, Church Preen”. Both letters were read out by the Clerk and a reply is to be sent to SCC Highways Department stating that we do not consider this to be a Parish Council matter.
5 PLANNING
Planning permission has been granted to the following – Dr’s D & S Thompson – The Glen, Hughley (07/1454/F)Mr G Lloyd – Old Hall Barn, Kenley (07/1563/LB)Mr & Mrs M Bird – Parkhouse,Kenley (07/1631/F) Mr Towers has now withdrawn his appeal regarding land at Church Preen (APP/B3220/C07/2053608). The Parish Council will keep this application under review. 6 WEST MIDLANDS POLICE AUTHORITY AND
SHROPSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE
A letter had been received from West Mercia Police Authority dated December 2007 regarding “Your Police Service 2008 and Beyond” which was read out by the Clerk. Each village is to have its own dedicated Police Officer. Councillor Pearson will find out where this officer is to be based and the matter will be referred to the next meeting. “Fire and Rescue Service is Changing” the contents of this letter dated 21 August 2007 was read out by the Clerk and the Parish Councillors did not consider its contents were relevant to our Parish.
7 HUGHLEY CHURCH
The Chairman reported on a meeting he attended regarding repairs to Hughley Church and he believed that support should be given to the Church by the Parish Council. A further Church meeting is to be held and the outcome will be discussed at the next Parish Council meeting in March.
8 SPEAKER FOR APM 2008
The Revd Nick Read, The Chaplain for Agriculture and Rural Life has agreed to speak at our Annual Parish Meeting on 12 May 2008. Nearer the time posters and flyers will be displayed throughout the local area and Parish. 9 PARISH COUNCIL TRAINING COURSES The Chairman was keen for members to take training courses during the year and a sum has been set aside in the 2008/2009 precept for this purpose. SALC notices of future training courses were shown to the members present and examined as to their relevance.
10 VENUE FOR FUTURE PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS
The Chairman gave his comments on future venues for our meetings. Parish Councillor Ken Pugh proposed and the Vice Chairman seconded that all our meetings be held at Church Preen Primary School but the Chairman counter proposed that we use other amenities within the community this was seconded by Parish Councillor Charles Pearson. The Chairman is to write to the Headteacher of Church Preen Primary School for confirmation of use of the school. This matter to be included on agenda for next meeting. 11 INSURANCE Members agreed that no change should be made to the Parish Councils Employers’ Liability Insurance for 2008/09. 12 FINANCE The Clerk presented projected accounts for 2008/09 to the members present these were discussed and it was proposed by Parish Councillor Pugh and seconded by the Vice Chairman that a precept of £2,935 be applied for, there being no increase from last year. The Chairman agreed to the payment of the following – Payee Amount Cheque No Mrs B M Willberry 63.84 000163(back pay of salary from 01 04 07 to 31 10 07 due to salary increase by NALC)
