Working in partnership to tackle drug and alcohol issues in Shropshire
Shropshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is a partnership set up to implement the National Drug and Alcohol Strategies within Shropshire.
We deliver a range of services designed to tackle the misuse of drugs and alcohol.
The National Drug Strategy contains four key areas of work all aimed at tackling drugs within society. These key themes are:
- young people - preventing today’s young people from becoming tomorrow’s problematic drug users.
- treatment and Harm Minimisation - reducing drug use and drug-related offending through treatment and support. Reducing drug-related death through harm minimisation.
- communities - reducing drug-related crime and its impact on communities.
- reducing Supply - reducing the supply of illegal drugs.
The DAAT partnership is also responsible for coordinating the implementation of the National Alcohol Strategy in Shropshire. The National Alcohol Strategy is based around four main areas of work: - education and communication
- identification and treatment
- alcohol-related crime and disorder
- supply and industry responsibility
