Property Marking
A FREE Property Marking Scheme comes to Bridgnorth District |
A FREE scheme to mark household property is available to residents and businesses in the Bridgnorth District Area. In a bid to beat the criminals, Bridgnorth District Community Safety Partnership have funded the purchase of equipment that will create a set of unique property labels for resident’s property.
Property will be marked with a label that is extremely difficult to remove and bears a code that can be scanned by the Police. Each household and business [upon application] will be given several unique labels for their property.
What are Property Marking Labels?
These are a new concept in Property Marking. They consist of a series of dots that form three-dimensional labels that are similar in size to a postage stamp. The print on these labels will contain your name, address and postcode. These labels can only be read by a special scanner that the police possess.
How do I use the Labels?
The labels have a strong adhesive backing and can be stuck onto any household item that has a hard surface (e.g. televisions, DVD/VCR, personal stereos, Ipods, bikes, lawnmowers etc.] It is advisable to stick the labels where other bar-codes may already exist. It would then be less obvious to a thief that your belongings have been marked.
The labels have a special resin within the adhesive that becomes active after a period of 24 hours. Should a label be removed, the word ‘void’ is left on the item clearly showing that the property has been interfered with.
You will also be provided with clear plastic ‘overseals’ for added protection for labels that have been attached to bikes and garden tools, or any other outdoor property. The labels are provided in sets of 20.
