CONDOVER PARISH NEWS NOVEMBER 2008
PUBLIC MEETING TO BE HELD IN DORRINGTON VILLAGE HALL 8.00pm Tuesday 25/11/08 to discuss Uplands Planning Application. In attendance Consensus management and agent.
Chairman's Report: It is with much sadness that we learnt of the recent death of Mr Palmer who until recently had served as Parish Clerk to Condover PC for some 52 years. He will be greatly missed by the Parish Council and current Clerk as his wealth of knowledge of local affairs and local government together with his legal expertise were extremely beneficial to the parish. Mr Palmer was instrumental in improving many of the facilities in the parish as we know it today. His genuine enthusiasm, interest and dedication to the job were evident and the Parish Council and people of the parish owe him a great deal. Our condolences are sent to Mrs Palmer and his family. News Items…………… Sand and gravel seems to feature currently as two of the quarries in the parish are in the process of applying for planning for extensions to their existing operations. Norton Sand & Gravel at Condover – Councillors were invited by the quarry Manager to visit the site and view the new proposals for expansion. This took place in early September where councillors from both Condover and Bayston Hill met and spent a couple of hours being shown the proposed site. Condover councillors found this very informative and useful. Overall councillors are of the opinion the proposed application should be supported as it directly affects very few dwellings and would be well screened as not to be intrusive on neighbouring surroundings. It also extends the useful life of the quarry and secures employment at the quarry. Salop Sand at Gravel at Gonsal – Mr Parton (Managing Director), attended our September meeting armed with plans which can be viewed at the Parish Office. The quarry proposes to extend workings towards Condover and in doing so introduce a new access road to the quarry. This will also involve:- Widening Grange Lane from the Railway Bridge to the A49.
- Improvements to the Hunger Hill Junction.
- Installing traffic lights on the railway bridge.
- Building a new road from the quarry across to Grange La; joining near to the railway bridge.
The Parish Council overall are supportive of the scheme as it will remove HGVs travelling to the quarry via Condover village and the narrow lane at Station Rd Dorrington. Please feed back to your local councillors, your views, we’d like to hear them. A public meeting will be held when finalised plans are submitted by the quarry, this is expected to occur sometime next spring.
Uplands Nursing Home Application - The PC has gained an extension to the period of consultation and has requested that the Planning Officer obtain further information about the home. This will be fully discussed at the Parish Council meeting to be held on 12/11/08 at Condover group dwellings.
Boundary Committee Review - The Parish Council strongly opposes the Committee's proposals supported by SCC and SABC , which amalgamate Bayston Hill, with the rural Burnell parishes which includes Condover to form a new Burnell electoral ward to be represented by 2 members. For more information see the letters sent in the Council Minutes menu location of the site.
