The 21Kay Appeal

The 21Kay Appeal set out to raise funds for much needed diagnostic equipment for the detection of bowel cancer and other serious bowel conditions for the colorectal unit at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust.  

 

SUCCESS

The endo-anal ultrasound scanner and probe costing 54K is now installed in the hospital.

 

THANK YOU to everyone who helped in any way to make this possible.  It is wonderful to know that patients will recieve the help and treatment they need from this equipment in Shropshire.

Special thanks go to Lithaprint in Stockport www.lithaprint.ision.co.uk for their outstanding help, without them this appeal would not have reached the huge audience it did.  My kind and generous friends Neil and Sara Winstanley created the appeal logo, designed the appeal leaflet, designed and printed all manner of posters and sponsor forms and printed items needed for the appeal using their own resources and not burdening the appeal, enabling all proceeds to go towards the equipment - thank you is not enough - but I know you know how much it means to me. (In addition to this they organised and took part in many events).

The 21K Appeal together with the generous match funding from The Roy Fletcher Charitable Trust raised £44,021.21 The Royal Shrewsbury Colorectal Trust Fund were able to contribute a fabulous £10,000 making the purchase of the £54,000 equipment possible.  Heartfelt thanks go to The Roy Fletcher Charitable Trust for their tremendous help and to The Shrewsbury Colorectal Trust Fund for a magnificent contribution - together we have made a difference and helped patients in Shropshire. Thank you.

 

The availability of this equipment will make a difference to thousands of patients over it's life span.

There is a great need for a second piece of equipment: a transanal endoscopic microscope used for resecting large polyps. This equipment is not currently available in our cancer network: Stoke, Stafford, Wolverhampton and Shropshire.  A trained surgeon is on-hand - just the equipment is missing!

 

If you would like to contribute to making patients lives easier and help to make a difference please send a donation to 'Royal Shrewsbury Colorectal Trust Fund' at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital NHS Trust, Finance Directorate, Mytton Oak Road, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY3 8XQ.  If you would like your donate to solely go towards the transanal endoscopic microscope, please indicate in a letter your wishes for the donation to go towards this specific equipment.
